Q: Why does the text in some posts on CEO.ca appear smaller?

A: Posts that have been flagged by many users will have their text reduced

Q: How often are news releases (NRs also referred to as PRs - Press Releases) published?

A:  NRs drop every 15 minutes, with the most dropping on the hour and half hour.

Q: A news release was posted on Stockwatch, why don't I see it here?

A: Stockwatch is a news wire that doesn't show up elsewhere and doesn't get diffused on other wires. They don't share it around so to speak, and don't allow other news services to sign up and share it on their services. So, if a company chooses stockwatch as their news service provider, it ONLY goes out on stock watch, nowhere else. Companies chose StockWatch as it is a cheaper newswire, but the news is severely limited in circulation.

Q:  What is the cost for a company to send out a news release?

A:  A wire distribution is an online content syndication and distribution tool that communications pros use to send press releases out to various newsfeeds and search engines. It doesn’t take much time or experience to set up, and although it will probably not get you any original coverage, it will get your release indexed and searchable in search engines. The primary players in the wire release space are PRWeb, PR Newswire, Business Wire, and MarketWire.

Typical Cost: Fairly full featured at $350 with options ranging from $99-$1000

Q:  When is the short data released and posted on CEO.ca?

A:  As per @Vaughan: The data will update automatically as soon as its released to us by TMX.  Shortdata shows trading volumes in short positions, not current open positions. Our data is the opposite, it doesn't show volumes, just a snapshot in time of the short positions on the books.

Q:  Where do I find the OTC ticker for a stock?

A:  Check the most recent news release, the tickers and exchanges a stock trades on are generally listed in the opening paragraph.

Q:  When buying shares, what is a board lot?

A:   A standard trading unit as defined in UMIR (Universal Market Integrity Rules).   The board lot size of a security on Toronto Stock Exchange or TSX Venture Exchange and CSE depends on the trading price of the security, as follows:

Trading price per unit is less than $0.10 - board lot size is 1,000 units

Trading price per unit is $0.10 to $0.99 - board lot size is 500 units

Trading price per unit is $1.00 or more - board lot size is 100 units

Some brokers change an extra fee depending on how many shares you buy and/or if you buy odd lots which are amounts of shares that are not board lots.
